Nothing is wrong with the 8GB of RAM that was installed. Same result, hang at "About 1 second left" and threw off a generic error. May be corrupt."ĭecided to then try to make a 10.10 Yosemite Bootable USB. The error at the end is now that "Could not be verified. Made a 10.11 Bootable USB via terminal instructions instead of relying on DiskMaker X.

Took the SSD out of the Mac Mini and plugged it into my 2008 Mac Pro with the goal of using the Mac Pro to install OS X onto the drive. Tried making another 10.11 Bootable USB with a different 8GB USB drive. Clicking "OK" will return to the first screen of the USB boot. Something generic with an "OK" button, like it couldn't be installed due to an unknown error. It got to the step "About 1 second left" and hung for about 5 minutes. Created a 8GB bootable OS X 10.11 with Diskmaker X.

It had 10.11 installed, so it got the EFI firmware update to 1.2 in order to support 8GB.
